Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh – In a shocking incident that has sparked controversy and intense emotions across a village in Aligarh, a woman identified as Apna Devi alias Anita eloped with her soon-to-be son-in-law, Rahul, just days before her daughter’s wedding.
The incident gained attention when Apna Devi disappeared with Rahul, a man who was engaged to her own daughter. When local police initiated a search, the couple returned to Aligarh voluntarily. Upon return, Apna Devi was subjected to a medical examination followed by detailed counseling sessions. Despite several attempts to convince her to return to her family, she remained adamant about living with Rahul.
Village Outrage and Family Reactions
Rahul took Apna Devi back to his village in a car. However, their arrival sparked outrage among villagers and family members alike. Villagers condemned the relationship, accusing the couple of tarnishing the reputation of the entire community. According to reports, Rahul’s father disowned him, stating, “You no longer belong here. Don’t return to this village.”
Rahul and Apna Devi were temporarily sheltered by a neighbor before leaving the village again. Meanwhile, when Apna Devi returned to Aligarh, her children came to meet her. The daughter, who was supposed to marry Rahul, lashed out in anger. Her younger children reportedly cried and begged her to return home, but Apna Devi refused, emotionally moved yet unwavering in her decision.
Husband’s Plea and Financial Accusations
Apna Devi’s husband, Jitendra, remains hopeful for her return. In a dramatic appeal, he expressed readiness to welcome her back, stating, “She’s still the mother of our children. We are ready to forgive her if she returns.”
However, Jitendra also accused her of stealing ₹3.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth over ₹5 lakh. He alleged that the money was meant for their daughter’s wedding and came from years of savings and community support.
Rahul’s Controversial Past
Disturbingly, villagers and Rahul’s own family members revealed that this was not the first time Rahul had been involved in such an incident. He allegedly lured and exploited other women before. His father confirmed that this was Rahul’s “third such incident,” accusing him of deceiving women under the pretext of love and marriage.
Locals claim Rahul may be involved in trafficking or exploitation. “This woman will either be sold or abandoned,” one villager warned. The allegations have intensified public outcry, with many demanding legal action.
No Legal Action Yet
Despite serious accusations, including financial fraud and emotional manipulation, police have not yet taken any decisive action. Jitendra insists that both Apna Devi and Rahul be arrested and held accountable. “They’ve destroyed our family. At the very least, I want our money and jewellery returned,” he said.
As the case continues to stir public sentiment, the future of Apna Devi, her family, and her controversial relationship with Rahul remains uncertain.
