Mumbai, India – Social activist Rahul Easwar has lodged a formal complaint against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia and others for allegedly promoting obscene and inappropriate content through their platform. Easwar, a known right-wing activist, has expressed strong concerns over the growing vulgarity in digital media, stating that such content misguides the youth and erodes cultural values.

Liberty Comes with Responsibility

Easwar emphasized that freedom of expression should be balanced with responsibility, asserting that “Liberty’s twin sister is responsibility, and creativity’s twin brother is sensitivity.” He criticized the growing trend of using explicit humor to gain traction and publicity, calling for stricter community guidelines and regulations within India’s creative industry.

According to Easwar, the content in question crosses ethical boundaries, affecting young minds negatively. He expressed concerns over the influence of such material on impressionable teenagers, stating, “Just imagine what happens to a 16-year-old or an 18-year-old watching such shows. Their minds are getting poisoned and misaligned.”

Legal Action and Complaint Details

Easwar has formally invoked Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 of the IT Act, filing a complaint with the Mumbai Police against Allahbadia and other individuals involved. The complaint was acknowledged by the Commissioner of Police and has been forwarded to the DCP for further investigation.

While acknowledging that Allahbadia has issued an apology, Easwar stressed that an example needs to be set to deter others from engaging in similar behavior. He noted, “The apology seems genuine, but millions have already been influenced by the content. We need checks and guidelines to prevent the proliferation of perversion.”

Easwar argued that while humor and creativity should be encouraged, there are certain lines that should not be crossed, particularly concerning faith and family. “Every faith should be respected, whether Hindu, Muslim, Christian, or Jewish. Likewise, the institution of family should not be mocked or ridiculed.”

Following the controversy, reports suggest that Allahbadia has lost nearly 2 million subscribers as people reacted strongly against the content. Easwar believes that this incident should serve as a lesson to content creators, urging them to maintain ethical standards in the entertainment industry.
